My life took a pivotal turn at the age of 21 when I underwent a major pelvic reconstructive surgery. Every phase of my recovery was challenging. The structure of my pelvis forever changed, causing a ripple effect of tightened muscles, compensation issues, nerve damage, and major scar tissue adhesions in my upper leg and abdomen. ​ ​I visited countless bodyworkers to find relief, and learned how to listen to my body. I changed my major to study more in school, and realized I want to help others with challenges like mine. I enrolled in massage school and developed a strong foundation in bodywork, then hit the road for a year, traveling through remote villages of South East Asia where I learned ancient forms of bodywork and herbalism in local temples. I am an adventure seeker and lover of nature! I Embrace the journey of life and try my best to live in the present moment. I have been teaching Physical Education in Truckee, California for the past 22 years. I believe that in order to live a truly healthy life we have to spend time learning about our physical, spiritual and mental well being. I decided to pursue my yoga certification to bring this to light. I am a also a licensed massage therapist and sound healer. Blending yoga, massage and sound healing is my passion and I love sharing this with my students to help them on their journey. My husband Kurt and I have two boys ages 16 and 14. We spend time skiing, biking, hiking, and exploring together. My passion for fitness and wellness has led me down a path to yoga. My journey to massage therapy began during my adolescence, when I became deeply interested in health and human performance as it pertained to my athletic career as a lacrosse player. Since then, I have studied across multiple disciplines, earning degrees in Biopsychology (BS) and Athletic Training (MS) as well as studying and practicing Herbalism, Meditation, and Massage Therapy. Before moving to Truckee and transitioning into Massage Therapy full time, I spent 7 years working as an Athletic Trainer in multidisciplinary settings ranging from professional performance training centers to high school gymnasiums. This valuable time in my career allowed me to cultivate a deep understanding of clinical sports medicine as it applies to athletes and active people in all stages of life and performance. Inspired by the holistic, individualized, and preventative aspect of TCM I graduated from Pacific College of Health Sciences in San Diego, CA in 2007. During which I received a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine and certification as a Massage Therapist. My clinical experiences have included interships with San Diego Hospice, Rady's Children's Hospital, and study at The Chengdu University of Tradition Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China, as well as running my own private practice and working in multidisciplinary offices. ​ Through my 18 years+ of clinical experience I have treated a variety of conditions. I am a general practitioner, with a special interest in sports medicine, musculoskeletal conditions and pain, mental emotional disorders, gastrointestinal, autoimmune disorders, and women's health. I am a nationally certified Diplomat of Oriental Medicine, licensed by the California Board of Acupuncture, and certified in Massage Therapy and cosmetic Microneedling.Show More
