Soul Flower Somatics

For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to the places where body, breath and spirit meet. For over thirty years I've studied breath, sound, movement and the nervous system. I've trained with many wonderful teachers from around the world. For more than thirteen years I've studied with pioneers in the plant medicine world, I'm now in my third year of Somatic Experiencing training, the approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine, and I'm still learning every day. Here's what all those years taught me: you are not broken, and there's… nothing to fix. When I faced stage 4 cancer, the practices I'd been sharing for years carried me through. Breath steadied me. Sound held me. My body became my teacher. I didn't come out of it perfect or fearless. I came out honest, and more in love with life than ever. Every breath is a doorway, and every moment is a chance to remember who we really are. In 2023, my husband Benjamin and I opened One Tree Cottage, a sanctuary for our community and a place to gather, rest and remember. It's where retreats, workshops and gatherings come to life. The kettle's usually on, the drum is never far away, and there's always room for one more by the fire. I've called Lake Tahoe home for twenty-one years. If you can't reach me, I'm probably in the lake or up a mountain, with our neighbor's dog Una leading the way (and usually muddier than I am).
