These moving meditations invite us to hone in on that beautiful balance between strength and surrender, riding life's currents with our collective breath. My class style can vary, teaching to the energy of both the students present and the seasons at hand, but each practice has these consistent themes woven throughout: focus on breath, safe and strong alignment, and noticing whatever arises physically, mentally, emotionally with mindful self-compassion. We trust the body to be the greatest teacher, and each student is invited to listen to what their body is telling them.
In 2012, I followed a spiritual nudge and became certified as a RYT through YogaWorks in San Francisco. I promptly founded Sattva Village Yoga, a collective of open-minded souls who practice yoga and meditation together, actively supporting one another through compassionate community. In 2023, Sattva Village Yoga was re-Christened Big Magic Village in order to better reflect our expansion, offerings, and creative living, a la Big Magic. In addition to teaching yoga, I now co-lead retreats near and far, and offer sound meditative experiences (Sound Baths), co-creator days to play and talk books (Big Magic Fridays + Reading Rainbow), and other curated events for my Village. My connection to music, movement and meditation began as a child and developed through years of practicing classical voice, piano, violin, guitar and dance, horseback riding, creative writing, painting, sketching, sculpting, sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, barefooting, and pondering life from high up in branches of the trees on my family's East Texas cattle ranch. These intertwining creative endeavors fuel the vision and vibe of my studio. In order to manifest more of this Magic in our California world, my husband Christopher and I built The Barn, a gathering space at Rolling Range Ranch, with a dreamy loft studio where I hold space for our Village yoga, sound baths, retreats and creative play, as well as for my ever-growing collection of musical instruments. Also a trained classical soprano, I share my soul through all styles of singing, guitar, chant and laughing with abandon. I recently performed in NYC Off-Broadway with an amazing troupe of real-life-women in The Menopause Monologues.
